Museum

In the centre of Mali Lošinj you will find the newly opened museum dedicated to the Apoxyómenos, a two-thousand-year-old bronze statue of a young Greek athlete, discovered in 1999 near the island of Lošinj. Previously exhibited in Zagreb, Florence, London, Paris and Los Angeles, it is now kept at the Kvarner Palace. The palace has been completely renovated and only the façade and original structure remain because inside everything has been redone from scratch specifically to accommodate the Apoxyómenos: to host it and tell the story of this discovery at the bottom of the sea.
