The Monastery of the Forty Saints

This monastery is dedicated to the Forty Saints, that is the 40 Roman soldiers martyred in 320 B.C. in Sebaste, Armenia, during the persecutions of Emperor Licinius because they did not want to apostatize the Christian faith. The monastery suffered heavy damage during the Second World War, but its ruins, on a hill about 4 km from Sarandë, can still be visited, having preserved its historical and archaeological charm.

The island is reachable thanks to the convenient connections from Corfu with IONIAN SEAWAYS
