The San Pietro quarter

The San Pietro quarter, landing point and seat of Panarea’s main inhabited centre, is also the seat of almost all the activities supporting tourism and it is precisely this area that is the centre of the social life of the island. The first surprise you will notice is the thermal spring next to the port area near Punta Peppemaria, from the bottom of which emanates hot water at 50°C and which is exploited by the inhabitants (and not only them) for therapeutic purposes. Along the road going up you will find the church of San Pietro, the main religious building, from where, on 28-29th June, the procession of the homonymous patron saint of the island and fishermen starts.
