The Castle on St. Andrew’s Island

The Castle on St. Andrew’s Island, or Sveti Andrija, was originally a Benedictine monastery founded in the 6th century and later passed to the Franciscans, who enlarged it, changing its appearance, and then passed it into the hands of Baron Hütterott at the end of the 19th century, who in turn restructured it, transforming it from a monastery into a castle. Today the castle has become a hotel and is decorated with works by the official painter for the Austro-Hungarian Navy, Alexander Kircher.
